Our 1st game of Centauri Saga was an extremely narrow victory. We managed to repair the Jumpgate on the final turn to win. The map was ripe for a massive Raider Surge if we failed (not that there was a next turn for that to happen. The game was fun and very entertaining. There are several very vague rules in the rulebook that should have been addressed long before it was in production. Some sections completely missing and others that aren't specific enough about what to do in certain situations. Things that were likely overlooked by the designer because he knew those rules by heart and likely explained them to testers without then actually reading through the book. It leaves a lot of loose ends wehn you try to learn from the book itself though. I hope that they reprint a new rulebook after some errata have been made to address some of the more severe issues, but it will likely only be a downloadable pdf file leaving KS backers of the game without a proper edition of the rules :( Aside from all that though, the game was a lot of fun as I said and there were several moments where we thought that it was over. My Armada getting over cocky and taking on one of the bosses with his (boosted at the time) 10 attack dice with a couple re-rolls, only to roll a massive 2 hits... The boss then proceeded to beat the crap out of me for the next couple of rounds leaving me with 2 hull remaining when I finally managed to get him.

Different strategies were really interesting to watch play out. I went extremely combat heavy focusing on weapons and speed so I could shoot first and make it count. The other player started off very research heavy with good speed and shielding (the later payed off tremendously), but eventually switched over to build up their starport as it became more evident that we needed the combat skills. In the end we were both pretty balanced despite the massive differences in out load outs. It was a co-op mission, but it was still interesting to compare.
